HIM Reza Pahlavi II has founded two non-profit organizations, Iran Democratic Union (IDU) in the United States and Association pour le Rassemblement et la Democratie en Iran (ARDI) in Europe. The purpose of these non-profit organizations will be to support various Iranian pro-democracy and human rights initiatives. It is with profound regret that we join the world in watching the brutal reaction of the regime in Tehran to the protests of the brave people of Iran for their rights and against the suffocating tyranny they have been subjected to these past 30 years.

The regime has had 12 months to peacefully and respectfully resolve it's differences with the populace who has long since lost faith in their so-called government and lost hope in the judicial and constitutional infrastructures of the clerics and their paramilitary apparatus.

To the youth of Iran I say: your courage is the fodder from which legends are written. Your names and your actions, today and every day, until the liberation of our beloved Iran, will not only grace the pages of our history but that of the region and the world as the stories of the great struggles for human dignity and human rights are written.

To the Basijis, the Sepah, and the men of the Armed Forces of Iran I say: Join your brothers and sisters, your sons and daughters, do not turn the sacred land of your fathers and mothers into killing fields. You are better than that. You can change your own destiny and your country's destiny. We cannot change the past. But you can change today and tomorrow. Join your people in this just struggle to reclaim your blessed country.

To the regime in Iran I say: enough. Enough killing, enough torturing, enough blood of innocent spilled! In the name of all that you hold holy, stop this vicious campaign to hold power. You know it will not work, I know it will not work, history has taught us it will not work. Enough.

To the Iranian Diaspora whose heart beats in snych with their brothers and sisters inside Iran: Do not despair, the liberation of Iran is at hand. Your unity, your voice, your sacrifice is needed today more than ever by those who are buying the freedom of Iran with their blood.

To the citizens and governments of the world I say: The people of Iran need you more than ever. Let their voices be heard. Don't allow their epic and existential struggle go unnoticed under the guise of nuclear weapons priorities. These are all part and parcel of the same problem. A vile regime whose actions can no longer be justified nor tolerated by decent men and women, regardless of nationality.

In closing let us remember the words of Dr Martin Luther King: "We will foget the words of our enemies. But we will not soon forget the silence of our friends."

With a hopeful heart for a free and properous Iran,

A word of warning to Ayatollah Ali Khameini and his collaborators.

It has been some time that, like the majority of my fellow countrymen, I have regarded your oppressive and selfish rule without any lawful legitimacy and ethical credibility.

If there was any credibility to be gained from the unwise participation of the Iranian people at the beginning and continuation of the autocratic revolution that you and your collaborators brought upon Iranians like a grave nightmare, then even the slightest standing with the people is all but lost.

Validity and legitimacy of every government is conditioned by the judgement of its citizens and more importantly it depends on it capabilities to comply with the legitimate wishes of the people and their civilized ideals. A government that is not devoted in answering to its citizens' issues and attending to their problems is as illegitimate as a foreign occupancy. Without a doubt, the ramification of a 30-year autocracy has resulted in such a regime in our beloved country.

You would be hard pressed to find one person in Iran , or even the world, who is not aware of your incompetence when addressing the peoples' wishes.

In almost 30 years you and your collaborators have used oppression, intimidation and fear in an attempt to deny the peoples right to self-expression and freedom of speech.

In a prison as big as Iran there is neither the freedom of press that might reflect the peoples voice nor is there any independent political parties which can represent and defend the different interests of the diverse issues and opinions of the people.

Factory workers and government employees who during these difficult years have suffered most, have not had the right to establish any kind of professional syndicates or trade unions and have not had the right for peaceful gathering and demonstrations in protests against a government that has brought misery and degradation upon them.

When defending their national interests and trying to express the bitter truth of their lives, millions of Iranian students, these true representatives of the nation, these wise and intelligent spokesman of Iranian people face torture, imprisonment and death.

The courageous and lionhearted women of Iran , deprived mothers and daughters of our motherland have paid the same price just for standing up for their rights. When these brave women have tried to defend their fundamental rights, the regime has accused them of crossing the established medieval lines.

Even the righteous and moderate clerics who have learned about your role in destroying the people's religious beliefs have realized that any criticism of protests against you would not survive your wrath and retaliation.

The institution of government and system of elections that should represent and translate the true will of the masses has been reduced to instruments of shame to deceive the people. In the absence of diverse political parties, any free press and an independent judicial system the Iranian people have not benefited from your election system any more than the people of the former Soviet Union did under Stalinism.

It is here, Mr. Khameini, that we should refer to the second reason why your credibility and legitimacy as a supreme leader must be completely stripped. It is because of your incompetence and those before you in failing to provide the people of Iran with even the minimum economic requirements. The catastrophic scale of this enormous failing is highlighted more when during this time Iran has had a 30 overflow of oil income.

In other words in addition to violating the Iranian peoples rights and freedom and, despite accruing an unexpected windfall of wealth, your regime has dragged a prosperous and proud pre-revolution Iran, which had been the envy of its neighbouring countries, down to the depths of economic bankruptcy and brought nothing but life draining unemployment and inflation upon its talented and hard working people.

All over the world there are not more than a handful of regimes like yours, who treat their citizens as you do, depriving them of their fundamental human and economic rights. Not surprisingly, amongst those handfuls of regimes are some of your international allies, namely Syria , Sudan , and North Korea .

However, Mr. Khamenie, violating Iranian peoples rights and freedoms and bending their backs under the ever increasing weight of the economic hardship, as important as this is, does not measure up to the dangers and threats facing our country due to your ignorance and warmongering that endangers our security and territorial integrity of our beloved country.

The true fact is that years before you and your collaborators came to power, it has always been your vision and highest priority to exploit religion as a lever to interfere in the affairs of Iran's neighbouring countries. In fact written in the introduction of the Islamic Republic's constitution, it clearly states such a purpose and in reality a more fitting and accurate definition of that constitution should be (a deed for the denial of the peoples' rights).

Your pursuit of confrontation and hostility to divert Iranian public opinion has a long history. Right from the commencement of your dominance you have ridiculed Iran's renowned and historical heroes, thus confirming your animosity towards ancient Iranian culture and identity, which has been the very foundation of the Iranian peoples solidarity and strength for thousands of years.

Right from the beginning by destroying Iran's well-equipped armed forces and the executing its commanders, you had provided the opportunity for the Iraq government to attack our beloved country.

Right from the beginning you have suppressed all ethnic and religious minorities, terrorizing and attacking non-shia believers, thus weakening Iran's age-old peaceful co-existence and national solidarity and strength.

With the intention of dominating Iraq and the reaching Quads, you prolonged the war with Iraq at the heavy cost of sacrificing hundreds of thousands of youths and teenagers and foolishly squandered the countries enormous wealth and resources. The war lasted for so long that Iran , the victim itself, became the aggressor in the international community and United Nations. By violating one of the oldest and most obvious principles of International law, you occupied the American Embassy and arrested and tortured its diplomats and by forcing the United States to cut its relations with Iran , you brought unprecedented and costly economic and political hardship upon the Iranian people.

With direct and indirect interference into the affairs of the Iran's neighbouring countries such as Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and Afghanistan; and by creating propaganda and providing military and financial support to the most hard line and fierce enemies of freedom and harmony in these societies, not only have you put the name of Iran in the world community alongside terrorists and criminals but you have added a number of big and small countries to its list of enemies.

And if by now some of the worlds naive people have not yet realized your regimes direct role in the carnage and chaos it has created within the lands near and far, then they can take heed of your old accomplice Mr. Mohammad Khatami's clear admittance to this.

However by provoking international confrontation and animosity toward Iran , you are trying to accomplish your main goal of distracting Iranian public opinion. Hence, under the pretext of having nuclear energy for peaceful use, instead you plan to obtain weapons of mass destruction so that once again Iran becomes the target of aggression and attack. Because of your insistence in pursuing your goals, today our dear country is facing a very dangerous crisis that none of our peace loving countrymen had any role in creating.

The wise and foresighted people of Iran neither see their interests in your armed interference in the fate of Palestine , Lebanon and Iraq nor in your animosity toward progressive free societies and frantic persistence in pursuing weapons of mass destruction. Iranians have not forgotten that before the revolution Iran had nuclear competence and the right to use and develop Atomic Energy, alongside the cooperation of the International community, because at that time no country in the world had any fears of the goals and policies of Iran .

You and your predecessors' aggressive goals and provocative policies have not only destroyed the atmosphere of trust and harmony but have deliberately turned the majority of the worlds governments into Iran's enemy so that you can have another excuse to suppress the noble people of Iran.

Although at the beginning I stated that your regime has no credibility and legitimacy in the eyes of my fellow countrymen, but I should not have even acknowledged you and your regime by writing this letter. However my love for my four fathers land and my concerns for the fate of Iranians, forces me to warn you that if any harm comes to the Iranian people or to our territorial integrity the main responsibility will be on you and your collaborators shoulders!

I warn you, that if you cause such a catastrophe your fate will be the same as all those other tyrants who in recent years have stood trial in the International courts accused of crimes against humanity.

If you don't learn from their fate, if the freedom and well being of Iranian citizens have no place in your heart and your mind, then at least you should be concerned about the land in which you were born.

Today there is an opportunity to ask for the peoples' forgiveness but be aware that if you do not accept the peoples' wishes then their anger will crush your pharaonic rule and in the end will place you to answer for 30 years of depression and injustice.

Dear compatriots,

Today on Human Rights Day and on the eve of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the United Nations prepares to launch a year-long programme of activities to celebrate the signing of this historic document, every principle of this Declaration is being trampled upon in our homeland.

It is ironic that while the moral and intellectual heritage of our nation was one of the major inspirations behind the genesis of human rights, Iranian citizens remain deprived and disinherited from their most basic freedoms.

Today Amnesty International and other monitoring organizations put Iran close to the top of their list of countries violating human rights. For the past twenty-eight years, no segment of Iranian society has been immune to abuses. Women, youth, workers, journalists, dissenting clerics, farmers, academics, religious and ethnic minorities have all at one time or another been target of flagrant violations.

The rulers of the Islamic Republic have done their utmost to distort the noble image of our country and present our people as promoters of terrorism, intolerance and hatred. They have sacrificed the individual rights of Iranian citizens at the altar of a fanatical ideology and for the preservation of their illegitimate hold on political power.

It is very clear to me that our nation will soon free itself from its present nightmare and claim its true heritage as a stronghold of human rights and defender of dignity and freedom. Giving my full support to the United Nations activities in the promotion of human rights, I call upon all my compatriots as well as the international community to stand together and oppose all manner of human rights violations against Iranian citizens perpetrated by the clerical dictatorship.

An Iranian Solution for a World Problem

Last week Prince Reza Pahlavi of Iran who lives in exile from his homeland once again outlined his views on defusing the unprecedented danger threatening his country and world peace. He has expressed these views before but as the menace of confrontation with the Iranian regime looms increasingly heavier, the relevance and urgency of Reza Pahlavi's appeal is becoming more apparent.

In an article published in Le Monde dated 21 September 2007 he points to a third way of encountering the regime in Tehran which is neither violent military attack nor appeasement.

According to Reza Pahlavi what can save Iran and the world from disaster is a synergy between the democratic struggle from inside the country on the one hand and the will of international community on the other. The regime needs to be crippled from within and isolated from without. Economic sanctions together with political pressure should be the focus of the international efforts and not preparation for a military attack.

The priority of Iranians who are submitted to relentless oppression and persecution of a brutal dictatorship is not how to respond to the nuclear challenge or to fight the adventurous foreign policy of the Islamic Republic. Issues of vital importance to Iranian people right now are daily violations of human rights, growing poverty and unemployment and the absence of liberty. He writes:

"I share this conviction with many of the dissidents inside the country, that the essential problem of the Iranian people is neither the continuation of the uranium enrichment nor the Islamic regime's adventurism in one way or the other. The main aspirations of the large majority of the Iranians are freedom, human rights, secularism, prosperity, employment and security."

What is pointed out in this article is a need for a shifting of the emphasis by the West in its confrontation with the dictatorial regime in Iran. So long as major Western powers demonise Iran for what the regime portrays as an issue of great national pride, the will for popular uprising and overthrowing the dictatorship is foiled and nullified.

Major powers need to remind the Iranian people that far from grudging them advancement and technological progress, they are engaged in the same battle as they are in helping to rid their country of a medieval dictatorship and restore their human rights and liberty. To talk of the war between Iran versus the rest of the world is to exactly play into the hand of the Mullahs.

Reza Pahlavi praises the new French government for its resolve to impose greater sanctions on the Islamic regime and blacklist members of the Iranian political establishment. The French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been very careful to make a distinction between the terrorist-sponsoring government in Tehran and what he calls the 'great Iranian nation'. Mr Sarkozy also thinks that between bombing Iran and allowing the Islamic Republic to develop weapons of mass destruction there exists a third option.

Reza Pahlavi offers an Iranian point of view about the modality of this third option. The great advantage of his solution is that instead of alienating Iranians and pushing them into the claws of their oppressors, it pays homage to their just political aspirations and enlists their commitment to fight for their national liberation with dignity and pride.

No political figure amongst the opposition has the legitimacy or popularity of Reza Pahlavi to unite the Iranian people in their fight against their tyrannical rulers. In this article for the prestigious French newspaper, he reiterates his commitment to carry the flame of freedom and democracy to the end and see off his nation to a destination where they can freely choose their future political path, be it a democratic republic or a constitutional monarchy.

As we all watched the horrific pictures and video-clips of the terrorist Islamic Republic's security forces beating up innocent Iranian youth under the pretext of them being "criminals and troublemakers" I think it was pretty clear from the beginning that not all of these people were what the Islamist regime wanted us to believe - now this is being confirmed with the case of Pourya and Pouya Fazlollahi; two distinguished and respected young Iranian sportsmen whose crimes were not being "rapists, criminals, or troublemakers", as was the official charge of the occupational Islamic Republic, but for exercising their inherent human rights of freedom of speech and expression which are both suppressed in Iran. Both brothers had been caught spreading flyers of Iranian King de jure Cyrus Reza Pahlavi, son of HIM Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, who has been living in exile since the Islamists took over the country in 1979 leading to the brutal treatment which they received.

A few days ago a commentator inquired about the meaning of the word "Aryamehr" which I've chosen as a title to my blog, so I thought it would be appropriate to actually make an entry explaining the meaning of "Aryamehr".

Aryamehr is a persian term meaning "Light of the Aryans". This term was granted as a secondary title to the Shahanshah (Emperor) of Iran by a session of the joint Houses of the Iranian Parliament on 15 September 1965 before his coronation at Tehran (26 October, 1967).

When Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi nominally succeeded his father (in exile because of the Islamist Revolt of 1979 which made Iran into an Islamic Republic) he assumed as Reza Pahlavi II the titles of Shahanshah and Aryamehr together with the style of His Imperial Majesty, on 27 July 1980.

I've been waiting for the day when H.M. Reza Pahlavi would announce the creation of a "Government in Exile" or an "Overthrow Committee"; these recent statements by H.M. indiate that things are working towards that direction. H.M. has announced that in the coming months a unity council of some sort (congress/ forum) will take place. He also clearly states that he is in contact with Iranian military officials, even amongst the Islamic regime's supposedly most loyal shock troops - the Revolutionary Guards - who have declared their readiness to support the people of

Iran

in the removal of this terrorist regime, that is terrorizing Iranians and the world.

H.M. also adresses the issue many people (including myself) have had in regards to why he hasn't been in the forefront and leading the Iranian people's opposition against the shiite theocracy occupying Iran.

I ask of all Iranians to stand ready to serve in any capacity that they can in the coming sensitive months, we cannot afford to loose this opportunity that is being given to us. Soon it might be too late and all our efforts might become futile. If we truly want Iran to be free then we need Iranian hands to accomplish this and not foreign military intervention.
